Even with rumors of the DJI Phantom 5 circulating around, We Talk UAV believes there will be a delay in the actual product launch. To understand why the next Phantom may be released a lot later than those predicted rumors, here is a video explaining five reasons why the Phantom 5 is not going to be released anytime soon:
New release every two years
Camera and drone companies usually wait two years to launch an actual upgrade. There are some instances were special edition models are released within the two-year timeframe, but the changes are either minor upgrades or just for looks. The Phantom 5 is rumored to be a whole new drone with interchangeable lenses. If DJI were to stay true to the two-year release trend, then the next release can be expected this November because the Phantom 4 Pro was released in November 2016.
Phantom 4 Pro is already a beast!
The Phantom 4 Pro set the standard for other consumer quadcopters, and even though there have been new drone releases like the Mavic Air, the 2016 drone still has better features like a larger camera sensor. Being that the Phantom 4 Pro is already equipped with almost everything that the newer drones have, DJI might hurt themselves in terms of sales by releasing a much better drone at a low price.
